AutomationDirect Named 2017 Top Workplace Midsize Winner

The Top Workplaces contest is held each year by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and its partner, Workplace Dynamics. Beginning in September more than 2,500 companies were nominated to participate in this year’s contest. A list of 150 workplaces was compiled, using survey results from more than 60,000 metro-Atlanta workers. The list consisted of 25 large companies, 50 midsize companies and 75 small companies. One common theme across the winning companies was that they earned the loyalty and affection of their employees by investing in their well-being. AutomationDirect was announced as the 2017 Top Workplaces Midsize Winner. This is AutomationDirect’s third time winning this award over the past five years!

AutomationDirect is an industrial automation company located in Cumming. The company has a diagram called, Wheel of Life, which contains six segments consisting of career, family, physical, financial, social and spiritual goals. The Wheel of Life is used to help employees find balance between life and work. Most of the people employed by AutomationDirect have been with the company for many years, if not their whole careers. 

Tim Hohmann, “Company Captain”, said “If you keep an environment that’s friendly and you treat people with respect, what do you think is going to happen? They’re going to stay here.”

Tom Burns, technical illustrator and designer, said “They really consider the employees to be an important part of the enterprise, not just a commodity, but something that really makes their success. People who come here, they don’t leave. They stay for years because it’s such a good place to work. It’s kind of old school in the sense that you go work at a place and stay for your whole career.”

The company has an almost nonexistent turnover rate of one percent. One of AutomationDirect’s main goals is to make the employees want to work and stay at their company. Having goals and standards like that of AutomationDirect is what has gained them the title of Top Workplace Midsize Winner three different times.

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate AutomationDirect for being the 2017 Top Workplace Midsize Winner.
