Forsyth County Public Library & OneForsyth Partner for Annual Lunar New Year Celebration

Forsyth County Public Library (FCPL) and OneForsyth partnered for the second year to host the Forsyth County Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 10th at 12:30 p.m. at Sharon Forks Library, located at 2820 Old Atlanta Road in Cumming, Georgia.

Families were invited to come for all or part of the afternoon “Year of the Dragon” celebration. Snack bags of Chinese festival food were provided. A variety of cultural performances were featured in the Sharon Forks Library meeting room from 1:00–3:00 p.m. Other activities included traditional red envelopes (while supplies last), Chinese calligraphy, Chinese paper cutting, and cultural exhibits.

“It is part of our mission to present cultural programs that reflect the diversity of our growing community. It's a win-win for the Library when we can educate and inform our community in such a fun, entertaining way,” FCPL Programming Manager Kim Ottesen shared in a statement.

“A joint event with OneForsyth is a natural fit for FCPL,” said Library Director Anna Lyle. “The Chamber’s OneForsyth initiative celebrates Forsyth’s many cultures and the Library has a long history of providing educational and cultural programming. This will be a memorable Lunar New Year celebration for the entire Forsyth County community.”

“The Forsyth Chamber’s OneForsyth initiative was formed to position and foster Forsyth County as an inclusive, thriving community for all. The initiative celebrates differences and champions inclusive prosperity for all in Forsyth County. We are excited to continue our partnership with the Forsyth County Public Library to celebrate Lunar New Year as a community,” commented Pearl Cai, Forsyth Chamber Board Member, and a representative of the OneForsyth Council.
